About Us

Oliver Financial Planning provides independent advice on investments, pensions, retirement, protection and estate planning. Based in Bath, we work with individuals, families, trustees and attorneys across the UK.

Oliver Financial Planning

Oliver Financial Planning is an independent financial advice firm led by Tom Oliver, a Chartered Financial Planner and member of the London Institute of Banking & Finance. Chartered status reflects a high level of technical knowledge, professional experience and continued professional development.

Tom advises on investments, pensions, retirement income, protection and estate planning. He takes the time to understand your circumstances, objectives and existing arrangements before recommending a suitable course of action, and remains your point of contact from the initial meeting through to implementation and ongoing reviews.

Independent advice

We are not tied to a particular product provider, investment platform or financial institution. This allows us to consider suitable products and providers from across the market when preparing our recommendations.

Our advice is based on your circumstances and objectives. We explain why each recommendation is suitable, the risks involved and the fees and charges you will pay.

Who we work with

We advise:

  • Individuals building and managing their wealth.
  • People preparing for or already in retirement.
  • Families managing pensions, investments and protection needs.
  • People planning to pass wealth to future generations.
  • Trustees and attorneys responsible for managing assets on behalf of others.

Clients may require advice on a specific issue or assistance coordinating several different areas of their financial arrangements.

Trustees and attorneys

We advise trustees on investment strategy, risk, diversification, income requirements and the needs of beneficiaries. Our recommendations take account of the terms of the trust and the responsibilities involved in managing trust assets.

We also assist attorneys managing financial affairs under a Lasting Power of Attorney. This may include reviewing investments, arranging income, planning for care costs and maintaining appropriate records.

Where necessary, we work alongside solicitors, accountants and other professionals to ensure the financial advice is properly coordinated with any legal or tax requirements.

Based in Bath

We are based at 98 Bay Tree Road, Bath, and work with clients locally and throughout the UK. Meetings can be held in person in Bath, at your home or place of work where appropriate, or by telephone or video call. Meeting and communication arrangements can also be adapted if you require additional support.

Understanding the risks

Investments: All investments carry an element of risk and investment returns are not guaranteed. Values can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invest.

Pensions: Pensions are long-term investments. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down. The income available when you take benefits will depend on factors including the fund value, interest rates and legislation at that time.

Protection: A protection plan has no cash-in value. Cover will lapse if premiums are not maintained and will normally end when the policy term expires.

Estate Planning: Estate planning is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
